Our basset hounds are bred from quality stock. It is my aim to breed puppies of good quality, with sound temperaments, sound construction and good movement. It is my aim to make sure that all puppies are well socialised while in my care. To this end I spend time with the puppies everyday and they have a wide range of toys and bones to play with. They spend the first 8 weeks of life in my house where they get used to the vacuum cleaner, washing machine, television, radio, other dogs and cats etc. So when they leave me at 8 weeks they have experienced a wide range of everyday domestic life. They are also introduced to the outside world, where they do most of the house training. New owners have found it a lot easier to house train puppies because of this early training. I only breed one to two litters a year. When it comes to homing puppies, I try to match a puppies temperament with the family it is going to be with. There would be no point, for instance, homing a shy puppy with a noisy, busy family. I always invite prospective owners to come and visit the Woferlow Kennel, so that they can meet my dogs and I can get an idea of what the potential buyers are like, and how they and their children, if any, are with the bassets
